The standard is developed by the organization FoodPLUS GmbH and the scope covers certification of products of the primary sector, fruits, vegetables, cereals, livestock, flowers, propagating material, fish products and other farming products.

GLOBALGAP is focused on the development and implementation of best agricultural practices of an integrated approach aiming to regain consumer confidence in terms of health safety, food quality, environmental protection, biodiversity, rational management of available natural resources and health and safety at work.

The standard can be implemented by individual farmers but also group of farmers or large size associations.
